The San Diego Humane Society has partnered with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to assist Ukrainian refugees fleeing with their pets. Ukrainian pets are being held again when their homeowners cross into the United States on the U.S.-Mexico border.
The SDHS is working with the CDC and U.S. Customs and Border Protection to rearrange the transport, therapy and quarantine of Ukrainian pets as wanted so pets could be safely reunited with their Ukrainian households.
“Pets are family, and families should never be forced apart,” says SDHS president and CEO Dr. Gary Weitzman in an announcement.
